Doing Copy Right

Recently I read SWARM, a fantastic Sci-Fi novel by Peter Birkett. In one memorable moment, a character sings a song to save the day--and ultimately the universe! šŸ›ŸšŸŒŒ

Are you a writer thinking about stepping up to the mike and using the lyrics of a song in your work?šŸŽ™ļø Or maybe you simply want to introduce a chapter or your next blogpost with some catchy lyrics? šŸŽ¶

Think again!šŸ¤”

Most if not all recent pop songs and classics are protected by copyright laws, which means you first must get the copyright owner's permission. That requires lots of time and money. No problem?

Stop!šŸ›‘ No need to read further.

A better approach may be to do what I did in Float the Boat. At a moment of high anxiety, my hero sings a song to destress and focus. I selected the tune because I like it and, since it's in the public domain, it's FREE to use.

Follow the process in the image included here and perhaps you won't need to sing a song to rid yourself of the anxiety that goes along with using song lyrics in your written work!
